Physicians Alliance is a private company partnering with The Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) to provide management, administration and health care services in the Private Medical and Private Surgical Wards.
Physicians Alliance embraced the opportunity to participate in a model of selective privatization designed initially in 1991 to focus on diagnostic and therapeutic technology and more recently since 1996 to the full management and administration of the Private Medical and Private Surgical Wards of the nation’s public hospital.
The Bahamas Government gave approval to the process and set the guidelines for implementation of selective privatization in the Princess Margaret Hospital in December 1994. Despite the fact that the privatization initiative has been confined to the Private Wards at PMH, it stands today as a stellar example of public-private sector partnerships in the administration and delivery of health care.
